Disability Advocacy

Your advocacy is needed on the following issues:

Not One Cent!
The managed care bureaucracy will cost hundreds of millions of dollars each year to maintain – NOT ONE CENT of the money currently paying for services should be used for this purpose!

Managed care infrastructure is costly to maintain and New York State has not come up with a plan to pay for it. We need to stand up NOW and tell our elected officials that we need every penny to stay in the system for services to people with intellectual and developmental disablities and their families. Savings resulting from efficiencies in long term services are unlikely but in the event that savings are realized, we need every penny saved to be allocated for services for people currently underserved or not being served at all. The State will have to find other money to finance the new managed care bureaucracy for people with I/DD!

On September 18th the Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted the Disability Treaty out of committee. We need to turn this around by November 12, 2014.
