As the Teaching Assistant – Pre-School Program, you will assist the certified teacher in carrying out individual educational program including the performance of supportive teaching and non-teaching duties, take over leadership role in the classroom during teacher’s absence.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must be able to function as a full time preschool special education teacher for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and/or related moderate to severe disabilities. Must be able to develop and implement individualized ABA program within a social communication classroom setting. Familiarity with TEACCH/PECS/Floortime preferred. Training/experience in ABA required. NYS certification as a Teaching Assistant or a teacher required.
NYS certification as a Teaching Assistant or Teacher required. ABA training/experience with children with autism and /or moderate to severe disabilities preferred.
- Remain current in all required trainings
- Must be cleared and maintain acceptable record under the NYS mandated criminal background check process.
- Must be clear and maintain an acceptable record under the Medicaid Fraud & Abuse clearance process.
- Must complete 30 hours of PCFS training every 2 years, with 15 hours within first 6 months of employment. Will be observed in work environment and evaluated at least annually by supervisor(s).
