Day Services

Day Services offers individuals with developmental disabilities a full or part-time person-centered day program which facilitates life skills through community and center-based activities. It may be combined with part-time supported employment, volunteer opportunities, “without walls” and/or pre-vocational services. 

Rockland Day Services:

Nyack Studio Arts

53 Hudson Avenue, Nyack, NY.
Innovative and specialized community-based arts program that utilizes the arts as the modality for young adults to continue their education, explore the world and learn to become responsible and contributing members of society; “the world is our classroom” says, Associate director, Carol King. The program serves 19-29 year olds.

Nyack After the Day Respite Service
Beginnning in early 2014, at our Nyack location, “After the Day Respite” will be offered 2 afternoons per week and transportation home may be provided. “After the Day Respite” has a strong focus on community learning, wellness activities and developing independence in the community.

Day Habilitation Without Walls
With the community as its classroom,  small groups (up to 4) of participants engage in planned activities in the community all day such as volunteer work, attending classes at various colleges.  Many participants are also engaged in part-time supported employment and/or internships in the Rockland community

 

Jawonio TECH:

New Hempstead, NY

PACE I
Positive Adult Community Experience: a specialized program designed for people with multiple disabilities. The program offers complete support for all ADL needs and  focuses in on community inclusion. Daily activities include computer workshops, budgeting, horticulture, music and pet therapies, volunteer work and academic supports.

PACE II
A unique program for people with intellectual disabilities and mental health challenges. Designed to provide a safe and trusting environment where individuals can build day-to-day coping skills as well as new skills in order to become more confident and productive in their home, program and community settings.

Jawonio Advocacy Group(JAG): Award-winning group  focuses and identifies areas for change. Participants also engage in self-advocacy sessions and group participation in Rockland and Westchester Counties.

SENIORS PROGRAM
Ensures an environment of respect, trust and support for older persons ranging in age from 50-90 who are given opportunities in exercising choice, self-determination and independence.

New City Day Services

Westchester Day Services:

Offers people with developmental disabilities a full or part-time person centered day program; facilitates skills in the community and at Jawonio.  Services may be combined with part-time, supported employment, volunteer work,  “without walls options” and/or pre-vocational services.

NEW:  Day Habilitation Without Walls” in Westchester
Beginning in early 2014, the community will become the classroom for small groups (up to 4) of participants to  engage in planned activities in the community all day such as volunteer work, attending classes at various colleges.  Many participants are also engaged in part-time supported employment and/or internships in the Westchester community.

Prevocational/Work program

Offers people with developmental disabilities a part-time person-centered day program which facilitates life skills through the community and center-based activities combined with part-time pre-vocational/work program in contract and other “mini-business” activities including the operation of the Yonkers Thrift Shop (opening TBA)

“Westchester After the Day” Respite Services:

“After the Day Respite” services provide a strong focus on learning community life, wellness activities, and developing independence in the community. Offered two afternoons per week and transportation home is provided.
